Double Trouble is a musician and artist from the United States of America. She has released three studio albums, one extended play (EP), and two mixtapes.
Double Trouble is a band consisting of two members, Jake Shears and Chris Shears. The band was formed in the early 1990s. Their first album, Double Trouble, was released on October 25, 1993.
Double Trouble, best known as Stevie Ray Vaughan’s rock-solid rhythm section, started as a band of equals in 1978, when singer Lou Ann Barton quit a blues trio called Triple Threat, in which Vaughan was the guitarist. Vaughan took up vocal duties with the help of bassist Jackie Newhouse and drummer Chris “Whipper” Layton, and the band called themselves Double Trouble after an Otis Rush song. Tommy Shannon, who studied the blues while working as an apprentice with Johnny Winter, joined the band in 1980, and he and Layton would stay with Vaughan throughout his stratospheric career, from his first album Texas Flood in 1983 until his untimely death in 1990. Shannon and Layton reformed as members of the Arc Angels, a blues-rock ensemble that issued a self-titled album in 1992, and went on to work as session musicians for artists such as W.C. Clark, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and Doyle Bramhall, among others. Shannon and Layton also recorded with Storyville, an Austin-based blues band, in the 1990s. Bramhall, Lou Ann Barton, veteran Vaughan keyboardist Reese Wynans, Jonny Lang, Willie Nelson, Dr. John, and Jimmie Vaughan were among the guests that helped the pair record their debut album as Double Trouble. Been a Long Time, the outcome, was published on the Tone-Cool label in early 2001.
