Billy Horschel is a professional golfer from the United States who currently competes on the PGA Tour. Horchel won the BMW PGA Championship in September 2021 with a final-round 65, his second European Tour victory.

Horschel was born and reared in Grant, Florida. He attended Bayside High School in Palm Bay, Florida. From 2006 to 2009, he was a member of coach Buddy Alexander’s Florida Gators men’s golf team at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he played in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition.

Billy was a four-time All-American, including three first-team honors, and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Year in 2007 and 2009. In 2008, Horschel was named to the PING Southeast All-Region team. He graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in sport management in 2009.

In 2007 and 2008, he represented the United States in the Palmer Cup, earning 4.5 points each time. With the Walker Cup-winning squad in 2007, he had a 3–1 record.

Horschel shot a two-day score of 138 (60-78, 5) at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota, to win the individual medalist title in the 2006 U.S. Amateur. His 60 in the first round set a tournament and USGA record for an 18–hole round. In match play, he didn’t make it beyond the third round. He earned three top-10 finishes in a row before to his breakthrough victory at the 2013 Zurich Classic of New Orleans in his 61st PGA Tour start.

Horschel won by one stroke over D. A. Points in the fourth round after hitting six consecutive birdies. Horschel is currently ranked third in the FedEx Cup, third on the PGA Tour money list, and 49th in the Official World Golf Ranking. Horschel has made twenty-three straight cuts at the end of April 2013, going back to the FedEx St. Jude Classic in June 2012. When he missed the cut at The Players Championship, the event he participated in following winning, his run came to an end.

At the halfway stage of the 2013 U.S. Open, Horschel and Phil Mickelson were tied for first position. After the second round of his first major as a professional, he was one of just two players under par, having hit all 18 of Merion’s greens in regulation. He finished the tournament at five-over-par, four strokes behind eventual winner Justin Rose, after shooting rounds of 72–74 over the weekend.

Horschel climbed to 34th in the world and fourth in the FedEx Cup standings after finishing T4 in his maiden major as a pro. For the second year in a row, he won the 2014 BMW Championship and climbed to 23rd in the global standings. Furthermore, the following week at East Lake Golf Club, Billy won The Tour Championship and, with it, the FedEx Cup. Following his victory, Horschel is currently ranked 14th in the OWGR.

Just two days after winning the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup, Horschel became a parent for the first time. In May 2017, he won the AT&T Byron Nelson by defeating Jason Day in a playoff. In April of this year, Horschel and his playing partner Scott Piercy won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
