Jon Paepcke is an American journalist who works as a news anchor and reporter for WVTM 13, NBC 13 in Birmingham, Alabama. In November of 2002, he became a member of the station’s staff. Paepcke formerly worked at WRBL in Columbus, Georgia, as a news reporter from June 1997 until October 2002.

Jon enjoys using his investigative experience and passion for the truth to expose the untold tales that people want to know about. Paepcke has unearthed numerous instances of consumer fraud and government wrongdoing since his arrival in the Magic City. Jon has devoted more time to reporting high-profile federal fraud cases, including the corporate fraud case of HealthSouth founder Richard Scrushy, the fraud trial of former Governor Don Siegelman, and the bribery prosecution of former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford. He also participated to the station’s comprehensive coverage of the tornadoes on April 27, 2011.

Jon was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, on the banks of the Ohio River. He earned a Broadcast News degree, as well as radio and television broadcasting technology, from the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication in 1997.

Jon was also reared as a Crimson Tide supporter, and he cheers for the Tide no matter who they face, even the Georgia Bulldogs. He loves spending time with his wife Jennifer, son Jack, and daughter Julia in his spare time. He’s a devout follower of Hunter Street Baptist Church, a young soccer coach, and is constantly searching for a new outdoor project to take on.
