Rachel Dratch was born Rachel Susan Dratch in Lexington, Massachusetts, on February 22, 1966. Elaine, her mother, was a transportation director, and Paul, her father, was a radiologist. Dratch spent four years with Chicago’s mainstage cast of The Second City, where she co-created and starred in the two-woman play “Dratch & Fey” with Tina Fey, who would go on to become the first female head writer of “Saturday Night Live” and the co-creator and star of “30 Rock.” “Time Out New York” named “Dratch & Fey” “the funniest thing to be found on any New York comedy stage” when it was played at New York’s Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Rachel made her film and television debuts in 1999, in the film “Serious Business” and as a member of the “Saturday Night Live” cast. Dratch has featured in more than 140 episodes of the show throughout her seven seasons as a cast member and various appearances during the last decade. Rachel appeared in the films “Martin & Orloff” (2002), “The Hebrew Hammer” (2003), “Down With Love” (2003), “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star” (2003), “Looking for Kitty” (2004), and “Winter Passing” (2005), as well as the television series “Third Watch” (2000), “Monk” (2004), and “Frasier” during her time on “SNL.” She also had a recurring role on “The King of Queens” as Denise Ruth Battaglia.

Rachel revealed that she had accepted the reality that she would probably not have a child prior to her pregnancy, stating, “It was excruciatingly difficult. I knew I didn’t want to be a single parent, but I’d always imagined myself having children.
