In 1985, they collaborated on the song “The Show Stoppa,” which became a modest R&B success. Following that, the trio signed with Next Plateau Entertainment and recruited DJ Latoya Hanson. In 1986, they released their first album, “Hot, Cool & Vicious,” under the moniker Salt-N-Pepa. It went on to become one of the first big albums by an all-female hip hop trio to be certified Gold in the United States. It also gave birth to one of Salt-N-most Pepa’s famous songs, “Push It.”
